Judo for Kids & Teens
Our kids judo classes introduce children to movement, balance, and basic judo skills through engaging, age-appropriate training. Kids build confidence, discipline, and positive habits in a safe and welcoming environment.
We teach kids confidence, respect and discipline
At Judo Matsu, our kids and teens judo program focuses on helping young people grow into confident, motivated, and capable individuals. Training is safe, engaging, and age-appropriate, combining self-defence, fitness, and fun while reinforcing important values such as respect, discipline, and courage.
Our focus is on building strong foundations. Children are introduced to judo through:
- Fun, movement-based warm-ups
- Learning how to fall and move safely
- Foundational throwing techniques and control on the ground
- Guided free practice in a structured setting (Randori)
- Introduction to Japanese terminology and the traditions behind judo
- Core judo concepts including balance, control, and coordination
Through regular training, students continue to develop:
- Balance and body awareness
- Coordination and movement control
- Confidence in physical and social settings
- Focus, patience, and self-regulation
- Respect for others and the training environment
- Problem-solving skills under pressure
Classes are split into Kids (5 – 11 years) and Teens (12 – 17 years) to ensure students train at an appropriate level. All coaches are certified with Judo Australia and hold current Working With Children Checks and First Aid.
Classes run in line with NSW public school terms (10 weeks per term, 4 terms per year), and new students are welcome to join at any time.
